Title: Capillary electrophoresis coupled to mass spectrometry (CE-MS) for metabolomics analysis

Project description:

The PhD student will develop analytical workflows with capillary electrophoresis coupled to mass spectrometry for the analysis of complex biological matrices such as plasma, urine, and living cells. The compounds of interest will be in direct relationship with metabolomics, namely endogenous compounds and metabolites. Sample preparation procedures will also be developed to adapt the CE format in terms of volume and handling. Once validated, metabolomic protocols will be applied to case studies related to specific pathologies.
The project is highly transversal and will take place at the interface between pharmaceutical, biology, and medical sciences. Collaborations with hospitals and industrial partners are part of the PhD thesis.

Start: 1st of January 2018 Duration: 4 years

Supervision: Dr Julie SChappler, Pr Serge Rudaz

Salary: The salary will follow the university of Geneva standards.
