Thermo Fisher Scientific is actively seeking a Sales Support Application Specialist - Metabolomics, Europe

Position Location: Europe, preferred locations: Paris, London or Frankfurt

Position Summary:

Within the European Sales Support team this role is primarily responsible for the CMD products and workflow solutions associated with metabolomics applications. This role is expected to be an application focused specialist working primarily in a Thermo Fisher Scientific laboratory or at customer sites. This role encompasses both the pre-sales process and post-sales support, including technical advice and training to sales colleagues and customers. Participation is expected in product demonstrations, sales calls and scientific events. To begin with, this position will focus on HRAM mass spectrometers, on orbitrap instruments, and include support of metabolomics applications primarily, with metabolism and structural elucidation as additional expertise of development, from LCMS data acquisition to data analysis.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for active participation in the European Omics sales support team and achievement of the team and personal goals with special focus on supporting metabolomics customers and application projects.

  • Active participation in pre-sales activities, including customer visits, support of sales colleagues, demo assistance, users meetings and scientific conferences as needed.

  • Provides high quality and effective post-sales support, working closely with application support teams and factory based product and vertical marketing teams.

  • Sharing of best practices with other members of the team and the responsible manager.

  • Ensuring training activities are provided to the customer in a timely manner while focussing on customer satisfaction and on a continually improving customer relationship leading to future business opportunities. Personally responsible for the relationship with key customers and key metabolomics accounts.

  • Make adequate use of all implemented tools (e.g., AppsLab, quarterly personal KPI targets…) tracking all activities to develop comprehensive knowledge of prospects and customers and Thermo Fisher Scientific's interactions with them.

  • Communicate market intelligence and VOC information obtained during customer interactions to the responsible manager.

  • Work closely with service colleagues to resolve service escalations.

  • Personally responsible for identifying training needs and ensuring that the individual capabilities and competencies meet the needs and requirements associated with the role.

  • Since business needs are constantly evolving must be responsive to, plan for and embrace change.

    Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar, Ph.D. preferred.

  • Excellent hands-on product line knowledge with several years of LC/MS experience at a European laboratory, preferably with Orbitrap instruments

  • Solid knowledge in metabolomics/ism, small molecule structural elucidation/biochemistry- focused applications

  • Ability to understand customer needs and translate these into relevant applications and training

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Good self-organizational skills

  • Excellent inter-personal skills

  • Driving License

  • Ability and Willingness to travel extensively across Europe, above 50%

  • Additional EU Language skills are a positive asset
